In harmony with the firm’s extensive professional liability defense practice, Dale Jefferson heads the firm’s real estate litigation group. Mr. Jefferson and his team are experienced in representing commercial and residential real estate brokers and agents in a variety of cases in different arenas. Mr. Jefferson is frequently called upon to resolve disputes involving land title and boundary disputes, alleged DTPA violations, commission disputes and pre and post-sale breach of contract actions. Mr. Jefferson has also been called upon to litigate and try cases involving the environmental contamination of real estate. The firm also has extensive experience in handling TROs and injunctions which attempt to impact the sale and development of real estate. Finally, the firm also routinely represents real estate appraisers and home inspectors in claims arising out of their particular niche in the real estate market.
Mr. Jefferson is also called upon to represent real estate professionals in the administrative arena. Mr. Jefferson handles matters before the EEOC and the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) on matters affecting the ethics and liabilities of real estate agents. The firm is also heavily involved in the education of real estate professionals with a focus towards the prevention of claims. In fact, Mr. Jefferson is a certified continuing education instructor in the real estate area by the Texas Real Estate Commission. He is frequently called upon by his real estate clients to provide in-house training. He is also a well-known CLE speaker on fiduciary duty topics in seminars for fellow attorneys.
