Overview

Some of the State’s leading law firms regularly turn to Martin, Disiere, Jefferson & Wisdom L.L.P. to advise them on the applicability and scope of the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct. We have provided ethics opinions to our law firm clients in numerous diverse circumstances including anticipated conflicts of interests, the organization of law firms, lawyer advertising and solicitation, professional disciplinary matters, the use of client funds and other property, the unauthorized practice of law, the duties owed by defense counsel to liability insurers, defense counsel’s Tilley obligations, and disciplinary proceedings involving the State Bar of Texas and the District Grievance Committees.

Two of our founding partners, Christopher Martin and Dale Jefferson, are regularly asked to share their expertise with other lawyers at continuing legal education seminars including those offered by the State Bar of Texas, the Eastern District of Texas Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute, the University of Texas Law School, Baylor University School of Law, the University of Houston Law School, and the South Texas College of Law.

Moreover, Mr. Jefferson is regularly asked to speak on the subjects of legal malpractice, fiduciary litigation and related trial topics.  Mr. Jefferson has spoken at a variety of State Bar of Texas programs including the Advanced Evidence and Discovery Seminar, the Advanced Personal Injury Seminar and the Fiduciary Litigation Course.  In 2016, Mr. Jefferson was selected to be the course director of the program.  Mr. Jefferson has also spoken on these topics at various law school sponsored CLE programs and for the Texas College of Judicial Studies.
