Overview

Nancy Oetjen joined Martin Disiere as Of Counsel working with our San Antonio office in 2024. Nancy comes to us with 15 years of litigation experience. Licensed in Texas, Colorado, Missouri and Washington state, Nancy has been representing insureds and insurance companies since 2009.

Nancy worked as in-house defense counsel for two Fortune 100 companies for over 10 years handling third-party and first party litigated cases. Nancy has considerable experience as a trial attorney working on complex personal injury cases. Nancy also served as a corporate counsel for a Fortune 100 insurance company, advising insurance claims personnel on legal issues facing the claims organization including bad faith, risk, coverage, liability, damages, and extra-contractual exposure for claims arising from personal auto, special lines, homeowners, and commercial policies.

Nancy is a veteran. She served as a judge advocate in the Texas Army National Guard for 9 years. Nancy deployed to Kuwait in 2013 as the trial counsel for the 36th Combat Aviation Brigade where she advised Commanders in the areas of military justice and operational law. She is the recipient of three Army Commendation Medals. 

In addition to practicing law, Nancy teaches Business Law at the undergraduate and graduate levels at the University of Colorado. She also volunteers for CASA and Veteran's Legal Pro Bono Clinics.
Nancy earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin. She received her J.D. and M.B.A. at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. Nancy received an LL.M. in Advocacy from Stetson University in Florida through their distance learning program in 2016 and completed an LL.M. in Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management with Loyola University Chicago’s online program in 2021. Nancy received her Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) designation in 2022.
